The thickness of the handleBakelite furniture knob brings the traditional material back to the 1930s, when it was invented by the Belgian chemist Leo Hendrick Baekeland. The furniture knob is heat resistant and can therefore cope with being near hot objects. The screw itself is clamped in the knob.
