Designed by RISPAL's in house team in 1950, lamp number 14,950 was named the Mantis lamp due to its insect like appearance. It was presented to the public at the 36th Interior Designers' Fair in Paris in 1952. He acquired the iconic saucer screen in 1955, made from a pleated cellulose acetate film, commonly called rhodod.
