Nuevo Mercurio is classified as a Stone Olivine bronzite H5 chondrite. It fell on 15 Dec 1978 in Zacatecas, Mexico. At 1850 hrs on December 15, 1978, a bright fireball, traveling NE to SW and visible over a radius of at least 200 km, exploded over north central Mexico and scattered meteorites over an elliptical area more than 10 km in length. A total of around 300 individuals were found totaling
